Community
Code of Conduct
Effective date: 1 January 2026
She.Inc exists to help women learn, build, earn, and lead. This Code of Conduct sets the standards of behavior we expect from everyone who participates in our community, whether online, in workshops, at events, or in any She.Inc-affiliated channel. It applies to learners, instructors, staff, volunteers, contractors, donors, and guests alike.
1. Our purpose
We’re building communities where women, especially those who’ve been told tech (or DJing, or coding, or AI) wasn’t for them, can show up as their full selves. That only works if everyone here makes it possible for everyone else.
2. Scope
This Code applies to all She.Inc spaces, including:
- The website at she.inc and any product domains
- Live and recorded workshops, classes, and office hours
- Community channels (Slack, Discord, forums, social media accounts run by She.Inc)
- In-person events, meetups, and conferences
- One-on-one communications related to a She.Inc activity
3. Expected behavior
- Be welcoming. Use inclusive language. Greet new members. Make space in group conversations.
- Be kind. Assume good intent. Disagree on ideas, not on people. Critique work, not character.
- Be useful. Help others learn. Share what worked. Cite your sources. Give credit.
- Respect boundaries. If someone asks you to stop, stop. If you’re unsure, ask.
- Protect privacy.Don’t share other people’s contact information, photos, or personal details without permission.
4. Unacceptable behavior
The following are not tolerated in any She.Inc space:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, body size, appearance, immigration status, socioeconomic status, or any other protected characteristic
- Sexually explicit or violent material, language, or imagery in spaces not specifically designed for it
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Doxxing: publishing or threatening to publish private information about another person
- Threats of violence, in person or online
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Sustained disruption of workshops, classes, or discussions
- Promoting scams, fraudulent schemes, or illegal activity
- Using community spaces to spam or solicit unrelated business
5. Harassment policy
Harassment includes (but is not limited to) offensive comments, deliberate misgendering, unwelcome sexual attention, inappropriate physical contact, sustained disruption, and any of the behaviors listed in section 4. We take harassment seriously regardless of intent. If someone tells you your behavior is making them uncomfortable, you are expected to stop immediately.
6. Reporting an incident
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code, please report it. You can report by emailing hello@shecodes.io with the subject line “Code of Conduct”. Include:
- What happened, in your own words
- When and where it happened
- Names or handles of those involved (if known)
- Any supporting screenshots, links, or witness contacts
- Whether you want anonymity in our follow-up
You do not need to be the target of the behavior to make a report. Bystander reports are welcome.
7. How we respond
All reports are reviewed by a She.Inc team member, with the founder consulted on serious or contested cases. We aim to acknowledge reports within 48 hours and resolve them within 14 days. The process is:
- Acknowledge.We confirm we’ve received the report.
- Investigate. We gather facts and may contact you for more detail.
- Decide. We determine whether the Code has been violated and what action to take.
- Communicate. We tell you the outcome (within the limits of confidentiality below).
8. Consequences
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, consequences may include any of the following:
- A private warning
- A required public or private apology
- Temporary suspension from a community channel, workshop, or event
- Permanent ban from all She.Inc spaces
- Refund withheld or revoked where the behavior involved fraud or abuse
- Referral to law enforcement where the conduct may be criminal
9. Confidentiality and retaliation
We treat reports as confidential. We share details only with the people necessary to investigate and respond, and we do not publish names without permission. Retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith, or who cooperates with an investigation, is itself a violation of this Code.
